501 (C) (3) Organization

In 2018 Cecilia Trevino (Ceci) was diagnosed and treated with a brain tumor at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH).  During her hospital stay she was surprised by the love and care shown by friends, family and even strangers.

The gifts and surprises she received kept her distracted and helped her not be afraid and scared of the treatments and procedures she underwent during her extended hospital stay.

In 2019, Ceci wanted to collect toys for children who were being treated at TCH.  Ceci approached her parents with an idea on how to organize a toy drive so that she could bring smiles to the many children being treated at the hospital.  She started her collection at her school; later broadening her reach to her family and friends.  With everyone’s help, a donation of more than 350 toys was made to TCH.

Ceci was so moved by the response in 2019 that she wanted to do it again in 2020.  Her goal was to donate one more toy than in 2019.  To her amazement she was able to collect and donate more than 750 toys.

In 2021, The Ceci Cares Foundation was created and certified as a 501 (C)(3).  This past Christmas, the Foundation was able to donate over 6,000 toys and $600 in gift cards to all 3 TCH facilities, Memorial Herman Pediatrics Hospital and The Sunshine Kids.

The Ceci Cares Foundation has come to life because of Ceci’s giving, caring, and compassionate nature.  Her goal is to bring joy and comfort to children undergoing medical care  in the Houston area during the Christmas Season.
